Running as an Independent in Michigan

Because of state law, Independent Candidates will appear on the ballot as NPA, No Party Affiliation.

In Michigan the term "Independent" is not used by the Secretary of State of Michigan because it could be interpreted as a party affiliation.

Independent Candidates (NPA) will appear on the General Election Ballot. but not the Primary Election Ballot

Be advised Independent Candidates (NPA) are required to collect more signatures the other political parties and you will have just 180 days to do it.
